FAQ

What is Moon Materials?

Moon Materials is a small business based in Leeds, UK. The idea behind the brand originally was to put to use unused skills to create clothing that suits the owner’s tastes when she found it difficult to find specific types of alternative fashion.

For now, Moon Materials is a one woman business!

What is your dispatch time & cost?

We aim to dispatch within 5 to 10 working days as products are embroidered or printed to order where applicable to minimise waste.

UK Shipping

UK Shipping is currently a £3 flat rate for most items with some larger items costing £4. Only charging appropriate weights where necessary rather than upping the cost on all items helps to keep the cost down for customers. All parcels are posted tracked, this means without any delays, your item should arrive 1-2 working days after dispatch.

International Shipping

We currently also ship to EU & the US. Postage for your area will automatically be applied at checkout. Please be aware international shipping can take 2-4 weeks.

Do you offer free shipping?

All orders over £50 include free shipping!

Are your products sustainable?

Where possible, we use sustainable and organic options and they will be labelled as such on the item page.

For our oversized shirts we use a supplier who is 100% organic, Oeko-Tex Standard 100, Fair Wear & PETA Approved Vegan. Our stickers & other items are packaged in compostable bags, and recyclable packaging.

Cushions are stuffed with stuffing made out of recycled plastic bottles.

Unfortunately we are not currently using organic vests as we have been unable to source any in the correct sizes/fits are organic.

If you know of any suppliers that can provide organic tote bags & vests in all the colours we currently use, please contact us.

What is the patch on the back of my embroidery?

That is a stabilizer patch, this is required to hold the t-shirt “stiff” during embroidery and without it the t-shirt would pucker and cause tears or puckering in the shirt that would be embroidered into it.

We mainly use cut-away stabilizer as tear-away can be unsuitable for the heavier embroidery on clothing (although it is easier to remove it will not last as long). Cut-away can be harder to fully remove but will last much longer and softens as you wash it. You can also cut it closer to the design if you wish! Tear-away is sometimes used for accessories as they do not as much stabilization as woven items like clothing however!

Who does your photography?

Most photography on the website is done by daisyhphotography, and some products are done by j_thurlby_image
